Charlie grew up in Augusta. After college he spent 24 years as a Process Engineer at Philips Elmet in Lewiston and Sylvania
in Waldoboro. When his last Engineering job was being transferred overseas, he founded I&S Insulation at his home in
Newcastle in 2005. When I&S outgrew this location the World Headquarters was moved to Wiscasset in March of 2009. A second
location in Portland was added in the fall of 2011.
Currently Project Mangers Al Maloney in Wiscasset and Mike Pindell in Portland do the lion’s share of customer & crew support. Charlie’s current focus is to improve I&S Insulation business practices in terms of crew training, safety, and documentation control. He is an active member of trade groups that support the industry in Maine such as the Maine contractors & Builders alliance (MCBA) and the Maine Association of Building Efficiency Professionals (MABEP).
Charlie holds a number of industry certifications. These include Building Analyst Professional from the Building Performance Institute (BPI) and Spray Foam Project Manager from the Spray Polyurethane Foam Association (SPFA).
Charlie’s interests outside of work include a very active involvement in the antique car & truck hobby. He also does building a nd remodeling of his own buildings.
Portland Branch Manager
Mike grew up in western Massachusetts, and has been fascinated by building construction since he got his first set of building
blocks. He has been employed in the construction industry since age 13 when he started helping his father with land surveying
projects. Mike moved on to being a laborer on construction sites during high school, and then became a framing carpenter. In
1998 Mike opened his own contracting business and operated successfully for 9 years, until he became interested in spray
foam insulation & building science and moved to his current career as an insulation project manager. He has been a resident
of Portland, Maine since 2004
Mike has numerous certifications in the construction and building industry including holding a Massachusetts Construction supervisor’s license, and being a BPI certified building analyst. In addition to his position at I&S Insulation Mike is a part time instructor at Southern Maine Community College, has had articles published in the Journal of Light Construction, and been a guest lecturer at the University of Southern Maine. He is actively engaged in teaching and learning about energy efficiency in buildings.
In his free time Mike has varied interests including hiking, hunting, martial arts, and playing the guitar.
